My version of this [link] , a poster by an unknown artist made for the Department of Agriculture during the WWII campaign.

More conceptual propaganda for Daybreakers. Flagg's Uncle Sam banner is the only real "old war" propaganda you see in the film (which I recreated, hoyeah [link]), and looking through my library of war WWI and II posters, I saw several that would lend themselves well to this concept.

Part of what I love so much about the film is the atmosphere that's created using colors, i.e. CREEPY ASS BASEMENT HALLWAY LIGHTING. I love it, so I tried to emulate that a bit. Combining the movie's existing marketing (very clean, very medical/technical) with old school poster printing (very organic and imperfect) is very uhhh... fun. That's the best word I got. All I can say is thank god the army has such a presence in the movie, otherwise these wouldn't make half as much sense. I especially like this guy because his face looks so gaunt, like he's just starting to slip over into subsider territory.

CAPTURE HUMANS GO GO GO!

I love this poster! The red and blue tones with the subversive message are perfect!!!

Would you be interested in creating a propoganda-style movie poster for my film Project Arbiter? Its a 20 minute short that will be coming out in early 2011! Band of Brothers meets Rocketeer. ProjectArbiter.com. Let me know. Thanks!

Wow, thanks so much! Your write-up was really nice. It makes me happy when others pick up on all the little brilliant, intricate details of this movie. <3

I know, right? So many people are just seeing it as a lame vampire gore flick! It bugs me, because I'm not one to really read into hidden meanings and stuff (and it seems like everyone else usually is), but on this movie it's like the complete opposite. It seems like every little detail had specific thought put into it, and I'm pretty sure my coworkers are sick of hearing me break it all down. -__-

:tighthug: I say, don't quit ! It's movies like this which should get the attention ! One day this will be vintage and studied in movie schools ! How you can do a great deal with actors who are not top of the ouh lala and yet who deliver more gut feeling than any 35 million worth one.

Ethan, Willem and Sam are soooo into their characters, you believe their lines !

+ the jokes (willem so cracked me up !), the divergences of opinions : kids vs parents (at 2 times even, both teenager girls rather suicide than be that way), the logic of the subwalk !, the modified cars (Who doesn't know a dude who is a baddass modified car freak lover !!, they even 5 or more different shows about it now on telly). And I believe it was filmed in Australia ? I mean where can you have such delicious deserty and yet civilized places with such a strong blazing sun !

If your coworkers can't appreciate your cleverness and intelligence, I'm sorry, but fock'em, they can go on light spectacular entertainment and wake up in a bloody harsh reality one day.

Agreed, but I can't be TOO hard on 'em. I think only one other person besides myself has had a chance to see it. Luckily, she's cool and picked up on all the details. Until then, I manage to pester at least one person a day about going to see it.

And I bet you're right about how the masses won't actually analyze this movie for another five or ten years, but that doesn't surprise me much. Ethan Hawke seems to be the poster child for those sorts of things, especially with Gattaca and Dead Poets Society. When that day comes, you and I can say, "Oh my god, I TOLD you guys!" And then we can look all sophisticated and smart and junk. ;)
